You get a strong sense of satisfaction from helping clients organize and understand their business, while ensuring all deliverables are met on time and on budget.The PositionWe are searching for a Senior Accountant to join our External Accounting team. The SeniorAccountant will report to the Controller and is expected to cover a wide range of responsibilities for clients including but not limited to: processing financial transactions, processing and reviewing A/P and A/R, reviewing payroll, preparing financial statements, variance and other financial analyses, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting. This position has a clear path for growth and can be a quick launching pad to more senior level positions. Growth depends on technical knowledge, coachability, and client-facing customer service skills.Responsibilities

Owns or assists with monthly close process

Works on special projects, as requested

Prepares month-end journal entries

Reviews and reconciles balance sheet and income statement accounts

Prepares and reviews budgets and forecasts for various scenarios

Produces required reports/financial statements

Prepares various financial analyses and ratios to discuss with clients

Reads and understands regulations applicable to client accounting needs

Assists in producing reports for client stakeholders

Interacts with client Points of Contact

Skills and Knowledge

Demonstrates organizational skills with specific attention to meeting deadlines

Proficient computer skills

Ability to adapt and learn new software products and applications

Ability to work independently and use good time management to handle a variety of duties

Ability to be attentive to detail

Knowledge of financial accounting principles

Strong communication skills

Essential Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Related Field

3-7 years’ experience preferred

Proficient with Excel, Outlook and other Microsoft Office products

Proficient in QuickBooks Online and other accounting and payroll software

Compensation and Benefits

Starting at $60,000, Negotiable based on experience

In this role, the Tax Senior, Core Tax Services may be charged with supervising and reviewing the work of Core Tax Services Associates. Job Duties: Tax Compliance Ensures both that (a) clients comply with all applicable authorities, while at the same time minimizing their tax and reporting burdens, and (b) self and client service teams comply with all Firm policies, standards, and the BDO Tax Quality Manual (\"TQM\"). Manages projects by planning the tax process and the procedures to be performed with quality; Answers preparer questions, and coordinates engagement from onset by communicating expectations and procedures with preparers; Conducts detailed reviews on all returns and appropriate review notes for preparers; raises potential tax issues; Meets internal deadlines to match the client expectations for timely delivery of service; Identifies book-to-tax differences. Research Identifies when research is needed; clearly and concisely frames issues to be researched; and clearly and concisely reports the analysis. Applies most Firm and professional standards for preparation of WTA and tax returns. ASC 740-10 (FAS 109 and FIN 48) Tax Accruals Correctly and proactively applies Firm policies, standards, and the BDO Tax Quality Manual (TQM) regarding FAS 109 and FIN 48. Prepares provision workpapers and discusses with the appropriate team members; Identify and discuss uncertain positions with team members; Review & prepare footnote disclosures in compliance with 740-10-55. Tax Consulting Assists with developing, recommending, and implementing efficient and effective methods to maximize client benefits, especially by decreasing clients\' current and future taxes. Identifies consulting opportunities to reduce client\'s tax liability; Provides efficient and effective support for client consulting projects; Gathers relevant information for controversy work, efficiently and effectively; Documents all significant tax positions, clearly, correctly, and in accordance with Firm and office policies (by creating memorandums to the files - Tax issues Memos) and ensures that proper documentation is archived to GoFileRoom. Strategy Development Introduces and develops new or improved ideas to improve the position of clients, the Firm, or Firm personnel, e.g., by reducing taxes or expenses or providing non-tax benefits. May be required to prepare studies of tax implications and offers clients alternative courses of action.
