The Software and Societal Systems (S3D) department within the School of Computer Science explores the vital intersection of the confluence of software, systems, and society to understand how computational technologies might better serve humanity. We are studying the bigger picture of computing in context in order to develop tools, policies, methods, and much more - all in the name of making the world a safer, more equitable, better place to call home.We are seeking a Sponsored Research Administrator (SRA) that will be responsible for overseeing a diverse array of research grant and contract management duties, including fiscal oversight, compliance assurance, and proposal development for multiple faculty members and laboratories managing various grants with distinct end dates. This role involves interpreting both university and agency regulations and guidelines for program submission and funding, providing consultation to faculty on proposal planning and execution strategies, and generating forecasts and budgets. Additionally, this position entails managing post-award activities from renewal to close-out, as well as collaborating with other university departments such as OSP and SPA, as well as sponsoring agencies.The SRA role offers comprehensive administrative and financial support for grant, contract, or sponsored funding administration at a higher level. This includes aiding in pre-award activities such as application preparation and submission, encompassing detailed proposal processing, database updates, correspondence management, and communication with relevant units. Post-award responsibilities involve processing transactions or adjustments as necessary, such as expense reports, payroll distribution adjustments, and accounts payable redistribution. Additionally, the role entails addressing general inquiries, providing information, and assisting administrators in award monitoring. When necessary, the incumbent identifies and refers complex issues requiring further interpretation or review to Principal Investigators (PIs) or unit management for resolution.Core Responsibilities:

Conducts the research proposal process. Advising faculty on proposal requirements and deadline planning. Developing proposal budgets. Preparing government and sponsor forms and contributing administrative content to applications

Provides faculty members with various options and scenarios that can be used in a proposal's planning or during the execution of the work. Develops forecasts, and budgets for faculty members and proposal creation and submission, including the preparation of proposal budgets, often with multiple subcontractors.

Compiles and/or proos non-technical components of proposal packages, such as investigator qualifications, current and pending support, budget justifications, and similar; ideally is capable of writing drafts of these non-technical components of proposals.

Maintains data in the university's proposal system.

Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Business/Business Administration or other relevant field required.

1-3 years of experience in sponsored research administration

1-3 relevant finance or business administration experience required.

Higher Education experience preferred.

Comparable knowledge in the form of education and relevant experience may be considered.Would be nice to have skills in:

Collaborate with tax, closing and servicing teams as necessary. Verify completion and execution of trade documentation (i.e. trade confirmations, transfer certificates, assignment agreements etc.) prior to release of funds for purchases. Conduct call-backs for new lenders and follow appropriate procedures for trades not received via ClearPar to confirm and authenticate trade and money movement instructions. Verify ownership of existing loan positions prior to execution of sale transactions Record, coordinate and process all settlements from purchases and sales, recording relevant trade and asset information. Track purchase/sale price, accrued interest, loan positions, proceeds, etc. Complete audit confirmations, manage position verifications, and research/resolve discrepancies as needed.
