Anthos is a family-owned business based in Pittsburgh, PA. In our Bakery Café we offer Breakfast, Lunch and Brunch as well as authentic Greek and Mediterranean food, European style breads and pastries and Colombian coffee by Devocion.
We are looking for a Barista to join our front team to prepare and serve hot and cold beverages, mostly coffee and tea. Job responsibilities include educating customers on our drinks menu, making recommendations based on their preferences, up-selling special items and occasionally taking orders. We are looking for a team player with excellent customer service skills and ability to learn and execute our recipes. We want our customers to have the best possible experience in our café and your contribution is of key importance.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers and answer their questions regarding ingredients and products
- Take and execute orders while paying attention to details (e.g. preferences of coffee blend, dairy and sugar ratios)
- Be ready and flexible to assist as necessary with all front of the house positions (Counter service, Receiving orders, Serving and Bussing)
- Keep the bar area and equipment clean and maintain stock of mugs, plates and paper products
- Check if equipment operates properly and report any maintenance needs
- Comply with health and safety regulations
- Communicate customer feedback to managers and recommend new menu items
Skills
- Previous work experience as a Barista is preferred but not essential.
- Demonstration of passion and enthusiasm for coffee.
- Being a team player with excellent communication skills and positive attitude under pressure.
- Ability to multi-task with ease and problem solve under challenging conditions.
- Organized, clean with respect of sanitation regulations
- Ability to gauge customers’ preferences
- High school diploma; relevant experience is a plus
