The Head Chef is responsible for daily operations of the cafe kitchen. They are in charge of coordinating and supervising the kitchen staff according to the standards set by the owner and food and safety requirements. The duties include hiring, training and scheduling Cooks, performing quality control on food leaving the kitchen and ordering inventory to keep up with demand. The Head Chef is responsible for generating new creative menu items that stay inline with current offerings but also bring a creative edge to the business.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Managing inventory so that all necessary ingredients are stocked for service
- Placing all weekly orders
- Hiring new staff and providing training to facilitate quick acclimation
- Streamlining the kitchen processes to maintain prompt service times
- Working with the Owner and General Manager to develop and maintain the restaurant menu
- Setting regular cleaning standards for the kitchen and verifying that staff is maintaining sanitation levels
- Creating schedules for all kitchen staff
- Tracking kitchen finances to identify areas of potential waste
- Understanding and performing menu pricing
- Update menu seasonally
Experience
- Previous experience in kitchen management
- Previous experience developing and executing menu changes
- Previous experience in a fast paced kitchen
- Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and culinary trends
- Familiarity with catering
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to effectively manage a team and delegate tasks
- Experience in restaurant management, including shift management and inventory control
- Proficient in interviewing, hiring, and training kitchen staff
- ServSafe certification required (must be obtained 90 days after employment)

Bloom Cafe is a fast causal restaurant situated along side a greenhouse and garden center. We specialize is fresh and healthy breakfast and lunch options. Our hours are Tuesday - Sunday 8am - 4pm
