We are looking for a skilled custodian to work at our church and preschool facility to keep the facility clean, well maintained, and in working order. Being reliable with a keen eye for detail is the first step to getting this job. The ideal candidate will have experience in cleaning and maintenance, a desire to work with others, and some flexibility in scheduling.
Primary Responsibilities
Keep the church and preschool facility clean and in working order.
Perform daily and weekly cleaning, including dusting, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, etc.
Set up and break down tables and chairs as needed for various events.
Conduct maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs.
Perform minor fixes such as repairing broken locks, filling gaps on walls etc.
Pay attention to the exterior property, collecting litter, and observing potential problems.
Work collaboratively with the Property Committee, Church and Preschool Staff to address basic maintenance needs and safety concerns.
Provide monthly and quarterly inspections of lighting and fire systems.
Arrange for and supervise third party contractors for larger issues.
Follow safety guidelines and report any unsafe conditions.
Skills
Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems.
Experience using hand, electrical and cleaning tools.
Ability to read technical manuals and drawings.
Very good communication and interpersonal skills.
Willingness to work with volunteers.
Physical stamina and dexterity.
High school diploma or equivalent.
This role is 100% onsite in McMurray, Pennsylvania. Flexible schedule of 24 hours per week could be 5 days of 4.8 hours per day or 3 days at 8 hours per day or something else.
This position requires a background check including the clearance to work around children.
