KENESS is looking for a Production Assistant in a printing office specializing in producing art books, comic books and graphic novels for independent artists.
While there is no getting around that work is work, we do get to print some pretty cool projects. If you are in the comic book/fandom world on any level, you would probably enjoy many of the projects we work on here.
Small, friendly workplace. Responsibility, respect and courtesy to all is critical.
Although activities from day to day would change depending on the production schedule, the primary tasks would be preparing freshly printed books for binding, binding books, trimming books and packing them up for shipping. Secondary tasks would involve keeping the office production ready, preparing materials, etc.
No experience necessary, will train and work together with you until comfortable with the various stages of production.
This is a part time position. A new office (next door) is currently being renovated and we will be moving into it shortly, depending on the holidays. So it is a bit of a transitionary time.
KENESS is gay owned, and some of the projects we work on are LGBTQ-themed.
SCHEDULE:
Flexible. Perfect for a student. Can work with you to pick a schedule that fits what else you've got going on, especially if you're class schedule changes every semester or have another part-time or main job. Readjusting the schedule occasionally (like when semesters change) is not a problem. However, you do need to be able to be reliable with the schedule we settle on. Frequent call-offs are untenable.
2-4 days a week at about 3-5 hours per day for this position.
Mornings or afternoon's preferred, but flexible.
Located in Homestead, near The Waterfront shopping center.
REQUIREMENTS:
Must have your own transport, so that you can always be on time.
Must be reliable.
Must be smoke and drug free.
TERMS:
Start at $17.50/hr. After 8 reliable weeks, pay would automatically rise to $20/hr.
IF YOU'RE INTERESTED:
Please introduce yourself. Tell me a little about you, your schedule, your availability and why you think this might be a good fit.
