Summary of Position:

The House Manager reports to the Executive Director and is the day to day residential leader of Mary‘s Place. The House Manager is accountable for all aspects of the home’s operations and supports the delivery of programs and services in alignment with the Mary’s Place mission, policies, and procedures. The House Manager will manage the Residential Advisors and their schedules.

Pay: Commensurate with Experience. Discussed in interview process.

Essential Functions:

Residential Operations: Accountable for all the day to day operations of Mary’s Place to ensure the well-being of the residents and their babies. Responsibilities include:

Develops and manages the household calendar and scheduling. This includes ensuring 24/7staff coverage, meal planning, chores, baby inventory, scheduling contractors/ service workers and structured activities/programs of the residents.

Develops and manages the household budget for food, cleaning and baby supplies. Ensures food and supplies are on hand. Reports monthly to the Executive Director actual dollars spent against budgeted dollars.

Develops household cleaning plan which is executed by staff, residents and volunteers.

Develops a grounds budget and plan which is executed by staff, residents, volunteers and board members.

Develops a life skills curriculum to provide the residents with the skills and experiences to achieve the ultimate goal of moving out of Mary’s Place and able to live independently.

Ensures all residential policies and procedures are followed and takes corrective action with residents and Residential Advisors. Escalates and informs the Executive Director when needed.

Works with the Resident’s to obtain/participate in agency/assistance programs. Ensures agency/assistance procedures are being followed.

Ensures safety standards are upheld and safety drills are conducted as required.

Maintains and reports program statistics to the Executive Director.

Schedules and/or provides transportation to medical and educational appointments.

Hiring, on-boarding, training, completion of performance reviews and ongoing development of Residential Advisors.

Administrative: Collaborates with the Executive Director to determine the support needed. Responsibilities Include:

Entering data and sending out acknowledgment letters within the donor database.

Participation in the Intake process with community partners.

Assisting with the writing of policies and procedures.

Assisting with implementation of events.

Working with Volunteer groups to complete activities.

Filing of residential information.

Taking house calls and responding to emails.

Receiving and distributing mail.

Others as defined by the Executive Director.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma. Bachelors degree in social work, human services or related field preferred.

Minimum five years’ experience in the human services field, preferably working with at risk women and their babies, with three years in a manager/supervisor role. While in the manager/supervisory role there were hiring, training, developing, budgeting, resident goal setting and directly running the operations accountabilities.

Knowledge of assistance programs and processes to obtain the benefits.

Strong crisis intervention skills.

Strong written, verbal, and listening skills with demonstrated understanding of and sensitivity to culturally diverse populations.

Strong computer and office skills.

Minimum Job and Physical Requirements:

Eligible to work in the US.

Current/valid PA driver’s license with at least 3 years driving experience with a safe driving record.

Ability to live in the house five days during the week (including weekends) which includes day and night shifts.

Ability to remain on feet 60% of the time during the day with the ability to navigate multiple floors via stairs.

Ability to work outdoors during the Spring/Summer months doing lite gardening, planting and/or raking leaves.

Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, receive shipments, break down shipment boxes, take out trash/recyclables, household laundry and shoveling snow.
