Ideal candidates will have basic mechanical abilities, the ability to read blueprints, technical manuals, and regulatory guidelines, and some slight welding experience.
Responsibilities:
Perform high-quality repairs, modifications, and upgrades on railcars using blueprints, hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
Work on bolsters, side framers, hitch heads, boxcar doors, and more.
Assemble subassemblies and major components, ensuring proper operation. Measure, cut, thread pipes, and replace air lines.
Use forklifts, bobcats, and welding equipment to repair and set parts.
Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Basic mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, fractions, units of measure).
Comfort working in various environmental conditions, including hot/cold temperatures and spaces with fumes and airborne particles.
