Mig Welder Duties and Responsibilities
Welding: Using MIG (metal inert gas) welding equipment to join metal parts together
Reading blueprints: Interpreting blueprints to determine the correct materials, tools, and gas ratios to use
Preparing materials: Measuring, cutting, and drilling materials to meet project specifications
Setting up equipment: Selecting and installing torch tips, filler rods, and flux
Testing welds: Inspecting welds for cracks, defects, and porosity
Maintaining equipment: Keeping welding tools clean and functional, and troubleshooting issues
Following safety procedures: Ensuring safety at all times; Maintain a clean and safe work area
Collaborating with others: Liaising with supervisors and teams to get materials and equipment on time
All other duties as assigned
Mig Welder Requirements and Qualifications
Must be over the age of 18
MIG welding experience
Ability to read and interpret blueprints with welding symbols
Attention to detail
Able to physically lift 75 pounds or more.
Must be able to push and pull equipment of various sizes and weights.
Able to stand and exert well-paced mobility as well as bend, reach, twist and squat.
