DESCRIPTION OF WORKAs a Career Advisor Trainee, you will receive formal and on-the-job training that is designed to help you develop the understanding and competence to provide professional employment services to job seekers and employers to advance employment opportunities in the commonwealth. This position allows you to develop, enhance, and learn to apply knowledge of workforce development programs, services, policies, regulations, legislation, and procedures. You will be learning how to provide group and individual intake services to jobseekers and employers, assisting with developing and conducting workshops, presentations, and orientations to services, as well as acquiring experience in planning and conducting group and individual career counseling and coaching on resume-writing, interviewing, job search, networking, and other topics. You will have the opportunity to gain knowledge and establish proficiency in searching for, verifying, and approving or rejecting new employer information in compliance with established requirements.Bring your ambition to our department where you will utilize your public contact experience to make a positive impact throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania!Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment
Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Schuylkill County, Pottsville.
Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Note: Upon successful completion of the Career Advisor Trainee training program, Trainees may be promoted to Career Advisor.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Four years of public contact work that involved interviewing the public to obtain, provide, and evaluate information concerning employment or employability; or
A bachelor's degree.
Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.Other Requirements:
This particular position requires the selected candidate to be able to read, write, and speak in Spanish. You may be contacted for a Spanish speaking proficiency evaluation conducted by the Bureau of Talent Acquisition, PA Office of Administration. If contacted, you must pass the speaking evaluation in order to be deemed eligible for this position. Your proficiency in reading and writing in Spanish must be demonstrated during the probationary period to achieve regular status in the position.
