JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:Operations: 90%Operates point-of-sales system to conduct cash, credit card, departmental charges, andSpiderCard transactions. Follows established cash-handling proceduresFollows established procedures to ensure an adequate on-hand supply of cash andchangeSorts, counts, and wraps currency and coinsMaintain logs, as directedMaintains a clean and orderly cashier stationMaintains cleanliness of lobby area; picks up trash in lobby; cleans dining rooms asrequiredManages daily cleaning, stocking, and organizing for all equipment, storeroom, and salesfloor. Stores stock items according to established proceduresCounts, receives, and verifies deliveries against invoices to ensure accuracy. Examinesand inspects stock items for wear, defects, damage, or unsafe handling. Conductsinventories. Reports all discrepancies. Transports stock, as necessaryMonitors and records temperatures of foods stored in refrigeration and heating equipmentto ensure safe temperaturesTrains new employeesPerforms other duties, as assignedCustomer Service: 10%Greets customers; provides prompt, courteous service to all customers and resolves theirquestions or needsAnswers telephone and assists callersEnforces general Dining Services regulationsCommunicates any customer or operational needs to managersCONTACTS:This position interacts with faculty, staff, students, visitors, and guests.SUPERVISION EXERCISED:May provide work direction for student employees.WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL EFFORT:This position is designated as essentialpersonnel and, during inclement weather and emergency situations is required to be available tothe University as needed.This position requires long periods of standing and walking, and the ability to lift 50 lbs., inconditions that are often, hot, humid, or cold. Must be able to safely use and operate typicalkitchen tools and equipment.
