The Assistant Superintendent, Specialty Coater will provide leadership and technical support to the specialty coater department.  They will model the best in safe practices, being a vocal and visible leader in the safe manufacture of coated paper.  Plan and direct activities related to the operation of the specialty coater to meet production schedules with acceptable quality and cost. Essential Duties and Specific ResponsibilitiesProvide leadership to operational employees regarding safety, quality, production, cost, and trainingSupervise operational crews and ensure proper staffingOversee specialty coater facilityEnsure effective training and procedures to optimize performanceIdentify process improvement projects and provides leadership for implementationEnhance operator skills sets in operations, troubleshooting, and problem solvingBuild operator self-sufficiency for safety, quality, scheduling, staffing, maintenance etc.Support new product development to fill PM time with profitable gradesEnsure proper inventory management to maximize inventory turnsCoordinate major maintenance activities, capital planning and operator-based reliabilityCreate a visual workplace with proper equipment, storage locations, cleanliness, and orderlinessBuild formal housekeeping responsibilities into positions and audits to ensure complianceTrack performance, identify areas for improvement, build action plans, and follow through to implementationCreate budgets, grade costing standards, and monitors variances
