Mark lumber for cut-off or ripping to maximize grade value.
Make decisions to rip boards or send back to edger.
Monitor quality of lumber for thickness variations, miscuts, saw tooth marks, and other machine induced defects.
Maintain an orderly work area and follow all safety rules.
Additional duties and assignments will be made as needed. Temporary assignments to other functions and jobs throughout CLC may be made without prior notice.
Job Knowledge / Skills / Requirements
Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills required. This normally is acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent.
Knowledge of NHLA inspection rules and prior experience inspecting lumber according to species, grade and dimension.
Manual dexterity with the ability to move your hands and feet quickly.
Requires good eyesight with attention to detail.
Planning and quick decision making skills.
