THE POSITIONPennsylvania's Office of Comptroller Operations is seeking an accounting manager to leads its Human Services Grant Accounting unit. DESCRIPTION OF WORKThe Human Services Accounting Manager directs and manages the staff and accounting operations of the human services grant unit within the General Accounting Division of the Bureau of Accounting and Financial Management. We are looking for someone who possesses an in-depth knowledge of professional accounting principles, proven team-building, and effective managerial practices in planning and directing the operations efficiently.The unit is responsible for overseeing the accounting and reporting of a wide array of human services grants and ensuring that human services funding is compliant with all state and federal accounting and budgetary requirements. Our ideal candidate will demonstrate a thorough understanding of generally accepted accounting and reporting principles, federal grant reporting, and state and federal laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures that impact the functions of the Bureau. You will routinely professionally liaison with local, state, and federal entities involved in the work of the unit. Emphasis is placed on ensuring that the human services unit continues to meet high quality and timeliness standards in the performance of their accounting services. Full-time employment

Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.

Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time, with occasional in-office days when work dictates such requirements. Please keep in mind that while this is a full-time telework position, that can change at any time at the Governor's discretion. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.

Salary:All new employees with the Commonwealth will start at the minimum salary.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

One year as an Administrative Officer 3 (Commonwealth title);or

Six years of experience in progressively responsible and varied office management or staff work, including experience in personnel management, budgeting, or procurement; and such training as may have been gained through graduation from a four-year college or university;or

Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:

You must have earned a minimum of 24 college credits in accounting.

You must have three years or more of progressively responsible professional accounting experience.

You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

Experience with Governmental GAAP and/or Grant Accounting
