We are seeking a Civil Engineer Consultant to serve as a Pavement Materials Engineer, responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of pavement materials, including their selection and application. DESCRIPTION OF WORKIn this position, you will make administrative-level, technical decisions in the development, evaluation, and implementation of policies and procedures related to materials selection and usage in asphalt and concrete pavements. You will work with other departmental bureaus and sections to ensure maximum utilization of the resources dedicated to pavements, and to manage and direct technical evaluations related to aggregate, concrete, and asphalt mixture materials in accordance with the established specifications. You will revise existing and develop new standards and specifications for pavements; interact directly with suppliers and customers to ensure pavement materials meet their needs and expectations; provide assistance, direction, and oversight to the districts regarding pavement issues; and develop, as well as prioritize, materials research proposals related to pavements.You will need to maintain a state-of-the-art knowledge of concrete, cement, aggregate, hot mix asphalt, warm mix asphalt, cold mix asphalt, PG binders, asphalt additives, cutback asphalts, and emulsified asphalts.Interested in learning more? Full-time employment

Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office.

Frequent statewide travel will be necessary, including required attendance at meetings in Central Office.

This position may be headquartered in Harrisburg or in an engineering district office as space permits.

Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Four years of professional civil engineering experience which includes three years in the appropriate specialty.

Special Requirements:

This position requires possession of a valid Professional Engineer license issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists.

Post Employment Requirement:

For the Bridges and Transportation parentheticals, successful candidates with an out of state Professional Engineer license will be required to produce a valid Professional Engineer license issued by Pennsylvania within their initial six month probationary period.

Conditions of Employment:

This position will require possession of a valid driver’s license.

Other Requirements:
