DESCRIPTION OF WORKThis role is integral to the Office of Safe Schools Advocate within the School District of Philadelphia, which is tasked with managing the School Safety and Security Grant Program as outlined in Article XIII-A of the Public School Code of 1949. The position entails delivering both administrative and professional program support, as well as offering direct assistance to individuals who may have experienced incidents of school violence.The responsibilities associated with this position require the exercise of independent judgment regarding procedural adherence, the relevance of information being processed, appropriate referrals, and the necessary actions to be undertaken. Specific duties include providing crisis intervention for victims, facilitating referrals to suitable programs for additional support, engaging directly with schools to collect pertinent information and advocate for the implementation of safety plans, and offering actionable recommendations for follow-up to the OSSA Administrator. Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment

Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.

Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 2 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Philadelphia.

Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

One year as a Criminal Justice System Specialist 1; or

Two years of professional experience in criminal or juvenile justice, law enforcement, or victim services, and a bachelor’s degree in the social or behavioral sciences, criminal justice, law enforcement, or a related field; or

One year of professional experience in criminal or juvenile justice, law enforcement, or victim services, and a master’s degree in the social or behavioral sciences, criminal justice, law enforcement, or a related field; or

An equivalent combination of experience and training.
