THE POSITIONDo you enjoy working in the great outdoors and have experience operating heavy equipment? If so, join the Department of Conservation and Natural Resource's Elk Forest District and provide skilled work in the operation of equipment and/or vehicles during the maintenance of district roads, trails, and facilities. DESCRIPTION OF WORKAs an Equipment Operator A, you will report to the forest maintenance supervisor of the Regeneration Maintenance Crew. Within this role, you will assist the forest maintenance supervisors, forest assistant managers, and/or forest district manager with the maintenance, forest fire, recreational programming, and management activities of the district. Assistance and work experience will occur from equipment operation having a gross vehicle weight of up to 32,000 pounds requiring a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), maintenance of equipment and tools, manual work when not operating assigned equipment, and acting as a lead worker, when assigned, to other staff in the performance of their duties. This position also r esponds to emergencies on and off State Forest Lands such as search and rescue activities and wildfire activities. As needed, assistance may require temporary assignment to other district maintenance divisions. Interested in learning more? Seasonal, full-time employment

Work hours are 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Tuesday - Thursday, and 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM on Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

Mondays off

Alternate work schedule (AWS) available depending on fire weather.

Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Six months experience in the operation and maintenance of large vans, buses and single-chassis trucks with a gross vehicle weight of 10,001 pounds or more; or

Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Necessary Special Requirement:

You must possess a valid Class C Pennsylvania driver's license.

Conditions of Employment:

This position requires possession of a Class A Commercial driver's license (CDL).
