DESCRIPTION OF WORKThis role is a professional position in the forestry sector located within the Forbes Forest District, with the primary responsibility of overseeing the wildland fire program across Westmoreland, Somerset, and Allegheny counties. Additionally, the position involves providing support for the management of the state forest program within the Forbes State Forest, contributing to the overall stewardship and ecological health of the area. Full-time employment

Work hours:

Week 1 & 3:(Monday – Friday) 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM

Week 2 & 4: (Monday – Thursday) 7:00 AM to 4:15 PM; (Friday) OFF

Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, ad-hoc up to 1 day per 2 pay periods. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Laughlintown.

Overtime: extended work hours on high fire danger days, fire response, and training

Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Two years of technical forestry experience, and an associate’s degree in forest technology, forestry, forest management, forest ecosystem management, urban forestry, forest science, agroforestry, or a related forestry degree; or

A bachelor’s degree in forest technology, forestry, forest management, forest ecosystem management, urban forestry, forest science, agroforestry, or a related forestry degree; or

A master’s degree in forest technology, forestry, forest management, forest ecosystem management, urban forestry, forest science, agroforestry, or a related forestry degree.

Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

Special Requirement:

This position requires p ossession of a valid PA non- commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent.

Other Requirements:

PA residency requirement (https://www.employment.pa.gov/Additional%20Info/Pages/default.aspx) is currentlywaived for this title.
