DESCRIPTION OF WORKThe primary responsibility of this role is to offer support and aid to foresters and assistant district foresters in their daily tasks within the State Forest. You will be involved in a diverse range of forestry assignments, including timber sales, fire prevention, insect and disease control, forest regeneration, and recreation projects. Throughout the course of their work, your progress and completed tasks will be regularly reviewed to ensure the quality of work and adherence to departmental standards.Interested in learning more? This is a seasonal, full-time position WITHOUT benefits. The season runs from approximately March until November at which the employee is placed on leave without pay.

Overtime: As required for emergency/training situations

Travel: As required for emergency/training situations

Work hours are 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM (Monday-Wednesday), 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM (Thursday), with a 30-minute lunch.

Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

An associate’s degree in forest technology; or

Completion of equivalent formal education in forestry.

Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.

Conditions of Employment:

This position requires possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent.

Other Requirements:

PA residency requirement (https://www.employment.pa.gov/Additional%20Info/Pages/default.aspx) is currently waived for this title.
