DESCRIPTION OF WORKAs a Medical Records Assistant, you will assist with preparing and maintaining paper and computerized patient records. Types of patient records include inpatient records, discharges, deceased medical records, and various other patient information. You will also work on medical coding for emotional and psychiatric needs, as well as medical and physical diagnoses. Another key component of this position is processing requests for statistical information, patient information, and retrieval of records. Full-time employment
Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Work hours may change based on operational needs.
Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
One year of clerical experience in a medical records department of a hospital, or ambulatory acute medical care setting or a licensed nursing facility, which has included six months of experience under the general direction or oversight by a registered Medical Records Technician or Administrator; and graduation from high school; or
Graduation from a medical secretarial or medical records program; or
Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
