DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will be responsible for organizing and performing the technical work of transcribing reports for consumers' medical records from a digital dictation system to a word processing program, and reviewing these documents for clarification upon completion. Your duties will include verifying coding of consumers' diagnoses as part of transcribing certain medical record reports; traveling to all consumer areas (units) to code or audit procedures performed by physicians and psychologists; verifying the accuracy of the hospital's Medicare Part B consumer population, and generating monthly reports for the Medicare Part B encounters billed; assisting with admission and discharge functions; and managing a medical records filing system for the hospital.Interested in learning more? Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.

Overtime as needed, which may change based on operational need

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

One year of clerical experience in a medical records department of a hospital, or ambulatory acute medical care setting or a licensed nursing facility, which has included six months of experience under the general direction or oversight by a registered Medical Records Technician or Administrator; and graduation from high school; or

Graduation from a medical secretarial or medical records program; or

Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.

This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.

Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
