Midwest Veterinary Supply is seeking a Distribution Managerfor our Norristown, Pennsylvania Location.Job Summary:

Oversee the daily operations of their respective branch and ensure the efficient, effective, productive and safe performance of personnel. Ensure that customer service and business objectives are being met. Ensure that facilities and equipment used for distribution are optimally functional. Represent the Company as it relates to corporate policies and procedures.

Essential Job Functions:

Monitor financial performance of the branch. Use productivity and financial information to determine the best course of action in meeting performance goals. Develop performance standards for Team Leaders, Warehouse Manager, and other employees. Continuously monitor branch performance to ensure that goals are met.

Manage staff by putting the right people into the right positions for maximum teamwork and production. Guide, motivate, discipline, interview, hire and terminate employees as needed.

Plan and develop strategy for meeting goals by working with Warehouse Manager and Team Leaders. Provide leadership so that all departments, all managers, and all employees are focused on meeting the needs of customers.

Directly supervise Warehouse Manager, and Returns department, to include conducting performance reviews, providing goals, taking disciplinary action, and monitoring performance.

Communicate with Inside and Outside Sales Representatives regarding inventory and shipping issues. Represent the branch when working with vendors/contractors, other branches, and others outside the branch.

Work with Human Resources department on employee matters to include payroll/timekeeping, hiring, disciplinary action, terminations, and employee benefits.

Ensure that branch is in compliance with Corporate and regulatory directives.

Perform other duties as assigned.Job Requirements & Qualifications:

Must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily

Specialized warehouse management training of at least two years is preferred

Minimum of three years of experience within a shipping and receiving environment required

Minimum of three years of experience within the veterinary industry is preferred

Experience within the Human Resources field is desirable

Must have a valid Driver's License

Forklift certified or ability to become forklift certified required

Ability to read, write and speak English

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedural manuals

Basic computer skills, ability to operate a Windows-based computer and data entry

Ability to differentiate details related to product codes and descriptions (such as verifying a string of numbers)

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals

Ability to compute rate, ratio and percentages.

Ability to work well with others and independently

Ability to make quick decisions based on sound business logic

Ability to manage, delegate to, and lead employees to ensure ultimate performance levels

Ability to work with corporate office to achieve mutual goals

Ability to remain flexible and open minded

Superior listening and verbal communication skills to include the ability to demonstrate diplomacy and professionalism

Strong organizational skills

Mental & Physical Demands:

Attention to detail critical to ensure accuracy and completion of objectives.

Fast pace of work requires multi-tasking.

Vision: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Repetitive motion: reaching, grasping, pushing, pulling, carrying

Regularly lift/move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift/move up to 70 pounds, and occasionally lift/move up to 100 pounds

Ability to climb ladders/stairs, balance, stand/walk on concrete floor for extended periods

ending, twisting, kneeling, crouching

Ability to work long hours as needs arise

Frequent use of a telephone - listening and speaking

Ability to work at a desk throughout the day

Frequent use of hands for writing and computer keyboard

Equipment Used:

Windows based computer, tape gun, safety knife, 2-way radio, safety equipment, markers, label equipment, packaging materials, ladders, box cutter, forklift, pallet jack, safety inspected vehicle, hand cart

Work Environment:

Work will be performed indoors in a relatively temperature controlled climate where moderate heat, cold or humidity may be experienced. Moderate exposure to dust and dirt may also be expected. Some travel is involved with participation in state veterinary conventions, the annual sales meeting, and quarterly regional meetings. May require handling of products with cautious warning labels. This is a safety sensitive position.
