Automation/Instrumentation Engineer III

Job Title: Automation/Instrumentation Engineer III Location: West Point, PA Hours/Schedule: 1st Shift Type: Contract Responsibilities The Data Science, Automation and Translational Analytics (DATA) group is seeking a highly motivated individual to provide excellent automation and operational support to our scientific partners.

Responsible for the set up and operation of state-of-the-art, end to end laboratory automation systems.

Provide high level automation and engineering support, troubleshooting and assist in the design and fabrication of components to support the clinical research environment.

Must also have the mindset to sustain and operate the systems they have helped build and organize

Liquid Handling / Automation Integration

Programming and integration of work laboratory instrumentation from vendors such as Beckman Coulter, Hamilton, Tecan, Bico, Biotek, Azenta etc.

Ability to write and optimize liquid handling protocols on Biomek/Hamilton/Tecan as well as perform liquid class validation.

Utilize vendors to support and service equipment to minimize down time.

Responsible for operations, troubleshooting and optimization of robotic platforms.

Team Interface

Act collaboratively to solve problems and resolve spontaneous and unique situations with professionalism and service orientation.

Provide timely scientific support to assay staff while maintaining project timelines

Empower, coach, and grow our scientific partners as they work on moving their experiments to robotic platforms.

A cursory understanding of bench science is not required but recommended.

Project Support

Order and procure material required for assay exaction, system builds and general laboratory support.

Creation and execution of installation, testing and validation procedures.

Coordinate installation requirements with Safety and Facilities

Process Optimization

Seek to continuously improve processes, systems, and overall client satisfaction.

Provide direction/information to vendors, suppliers, facilities staff, and service providers as required ensuring excellent coordination/execution of work within the client environment with minimal disruption, as needed.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, Biotechnology, Computer Science or equivalent Required:

High level of automation and engineering competency and technical expertise in the areas of integration, robotics, liquid handling, software and electro-mechanical solutions, and must be able to apply this expertise to continuously improve the organization's technical competency and output.

Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with site leaders, corporate management, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication of plans and issues.

Must be able to prioritize projects and resources to deliver required level of output and support to customers.

Experience with commercial laboratory software’s and equipment – (Green Button Go, Cellario, Beckman, Labcyte, Tecan, Hamilton, Brooks) Preferred:

Experience working in pharmaceutical or biotech company and/or laboratory experience

Microsoft programming languages (VB, Python, C#, LabVIEW or equivalent).

Regulated or Clinical operation and documentation experience.

Laboratory Field Service experience.
