Meets the qualifications to provide care for patients in the specific age range of their assigned nursing unit.Performs duties to provide the highest level of patient care and maximize patientsatisfaction in accordance with the goals and objectives of the Geisinger Health System.COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:Demonstrates strong organizational and interpersonal skills.Demonstrates effective written and oral communication skills.Demonstrates a high regard for confidentiality.Demonstrates flexibility, tact and the ability to perform both independently and as a team member.EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:For Registered Nurses with less than five (5) years work experience as an RN, a BSN degree is required or enrollment in a BSN program within 12 months of hire date withBSN degree completed within 4 years of hire date is required.For Registered Nurses with more than 5 years of work experience as an RN in an acute/inpatient capacity, a BSN degree is not required.For current Geisinger Registered Nurses who transfer into this position, BSN degree is preferred.BLS certification preferred and required within 60 days of employment.ACLS/PALS may be required within 1 year of employment (unit specific).OR experience preferred.Duration of on-the-job training to become familiar with job duties varies by individual unit.WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Work is typically performed in a clinical environment.The specific statements shown in each section of this description are not intended to be all-inclusive.
