Assist physicians with various aspects of patient care (including clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks) ensuring patient satisfaction. In addition to core Medical Assistant responsibilities, serves as lead person for team regarding day-to-day workflow issues or office procedures.

Responsibilities:
Attends routine meetings with staff to communicate procedural changes to improve service quality and patient safety.
Participates in implementation of department goals, processes, and procedures. Assists with orientation of new staff members.
Relay instructions and education to patients per provider's instruction.
Document patient information in the medical record and adhere to all confidentiality requirements and policies.
Works directly with the manager to identify opportunities for improvement in regards to clinical/nonclinical functions, and infection control procedures.
Serves as an office super user of EPIC Care as assigned.
Must attend competency training and be responsible and demonstrate proficiency in all practice category-specific tasks from training. Includes but is not limited to taking vital signs, medication and vaccine administration and passing medication tests, CLIA testing collection of labs, TB skin testing, wound care and dressing change, and other specific clinical functions (EKG, phlebotomy, ear irrigation) with training and perform clinical procedures according to policy and procedure.
Send and receive patient medical records in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other state and federal regulations.
Obtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, and referral information. Complete forms/requisitions as needed. Schedule appointments. Verify insurance coverage and patient demographics.
Prepare patient rooms, set up instruments and equipment according to department protocol, room patients, and prepare for examination.
Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
Required: Medical Assistant certification from a national certifying organization (AMT, AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, or NHA), or successful completion of Medical Assistant program, or graduated from an LPN, RN, or EMT/Paramedics program (must have received & maintained certification if EMT).
Must have basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology, examination, diagnostic, and treatment room responsibilities.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Medical Assistant
Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
Act 33 with renewal
Act 34 with renewal
Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
