Location: Lock Haven, Pennsylvania

Job Type: Full-Time (may lead to permanent after a few months)

Hourly Salary: $65.25 to $75.40 (based on valid experience)

What is the Job?:

We are seeking an experienced Lineperson to join our client to work under the supervision of the Line Foreperson. This role involves installing aerial and underground line construction, outdoor lighting systems, and switchgear. If you are safety-minded, skilled with electrical systems, match the requirements and enjoy hands-on work in the field, this is a great opportunity.

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Follow and apply proper safety and temporary grounding procedures

- Read and interpret outdoor electrical distribution system drawings

- Perform layout and supervise small line construction projects

- Operate equipment such as bucket trucks, digger derrick (line) trucks, trenchers, and backhoes

- Install power poles, guys, cross arms, insulators, and related hardware

- Perform rigging associated with installing switchgear, transformers, and steel structures

- Erect steel substation structures according to drawings

- String aerial conductors with correct sags and tensions

- Work on energized circuits up to 15,000 volts

- Install aerial and pad-mounted transformers and switchgear

- Properly install and terminate primary cables (5 KV and above)

- Make correct transformer connections

- Install substation ground grid systems

- Perform layout and supervision of duct banks and cable installations

- Install outdoor lighting systems

- Ensure compliance with NEC and NESC standards

- Maintain quality and productivity standards

- Provide on-the-job training for subordinates

- Safeguard and maintain company tools and equipment

- Stay updated on industry developments and recommend improved methods

- Follow company standards of conduct and appearance

- Requisition materials and schedule heavy vehicles as needed

Job Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent

- Completion of a modified lineperson apprenticeship program

- 4+ years of experience in aerial and underground power construction

- Knowledge of line construction standards and procedures for primary and secondary installations

- Skilled in operating line and bucket trucks, trenchers, and backhoes

- Current CPR certification

- Ability to troubleshoot distribution systems and operate testing equipment (megger, volt, amp, ohm meters)

- Knowledge of high-voltage cable installation, termination, and splicing

- Experience installing and connecting single- and three-phase transformers

- Strong understanding of NEC and NESC codes

- Ability to manage and oversee small crews and projects

- Valid Class A CDL with safe driving record and reliable transportation

- Willingness to travel nationwide and stay on jobsites up to two weeks at a time

- Ability to use a computer or tablet for work reporting (ProNav system)

- Must own and maintain required personal tools

- Safety-oriented, dependable, and professional in appearance and conduct

Physical Requirements:

- Ability to work 40 hours per week in 8–10 hour shifts

- Standing, climbing, kneeling, lifting, and bending throughout the day

- Lift and carry up to 100 lbs; frequent lifting of 35–50 lbs

- Repetitive use of hands, feet, and fine motor coordination

- Work in varying weather conditions and environments, including confined spaces

- Exposure to dust, gases, fumes, odors, and potential mechanical/electrical hazards

- Use of required PPE, including hard hat, safety glasses, protective boots, gloves, and other gear as needed
