Anticipated Start Date: Monday 6/2/2025 Expected End Date: Friday 8/8/2025We are currently seeking a Safety Intern pursuing a B.S in Occupational Safety & Environmental Health to join our Wagman Heavy Civil Team. Reporting to direct office/ field supervision, the Intern will be assigned various tasks from management and work with the Safety team on the assigned projects. This position will require the Intern to work on site with the Safety team three times a week and report to the York, PA office for the remainder of the week. We currently have projects in White Haven, PA, and Newark, DE. Site location will be determined based on the Intern preferred location.This is a safety sensitive position requiring work on construction sites with various safety hazards inherent in heavy construction.This position is subject to drug testing and compliance policies associated with our status as a Federal Contractor.Wagman is a fourth generation, family-owned company with offices in Pennsylvania and Virginia. Core competencies include design-build, infrastructure, marine construction, modified concrete, grooving and grinding, and geotechnical construction services.The following essential functions will be performed under the general direction of the Safety Director and Field Project Safety Managers:
Audit projects to ensure safety activity completion: PSSP, orientation, required training, huddles, buddy program, TBTs, weekly inspections, work plans, AHAs, 90-day reviews, good catch/ near miss, heavy equipment operator program, power tool certification.
Manage incidents and ensure company processes are followed - complete OnBase Initial Notification of Incident
Assist with incident investigation and ensure completion of form in OnBase including photos, witness statements, etc. and complete the bottom portion of the OnBase form.
Assist with PPE and safety supplies.
Attend weekly meeting and SIF planning with project teams.
Familiar with Wagman EHS Program and assist safety team as needed.
Familiar and understand Wagman policies, programs, and procedures in regard to compliance.
Physical Requirements of the Essential Functions:
Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds from ground level to waist level and 30 pounds to above shoulder level throughout a scheduled work shift.
Frequent standing and walking required througho t a scheduled work shift.
Must be able to perform simple grasping and fine manipulation tasks with both hands.
Must be able to work at heights up to 150 feet i.e., on structures such as bridges.
Must be able to bend, squat, kneel and crawl occasionally.
Must be able to work outdoors in wet, muddy, cold, hot and humid weather.
Position requires acceptable corrected vision in both eyes and acceptable corrected hearing.
Must be able to reach, lift and perform work above shoulder height.
Must have the ability to work on uneven surfaces and in confined spaces.
