Supervisor-Pharmacy Technician 7-7 Option - York Hospital -EveningLocation: York Hospital, York, PASchedule: Full TimeSchedule:Full Time position70 hours per bi-weekly payEvening shift 12;30pm to 10:30pm7-days on 7-days offGeneral SummaryPharmacy Technician Supervisor assists with preparation and distribution of medications. The Pharmacy Technician Supervisor position requires certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or comparable entity. Pharmacy Technician Supervisors have senior-level skills and experience, display leadership qualities, supervises work activities of pharmacy technicians, and they are considered experts regarding technician duties and department operations.Essential Functions:

Pursuant to the needs and offerings of the hiring department, essential job accountabilities may include the following:

Effectively develops and coordinates training of new employees according to pharmacy department policies and procedures. Trains/mentors new pharmacy technicians and pharmacy interns.

Effectively manages performance of subordinates in the department, including coaching, counseling, giving positive feedback, documenting significant events according to established HR policy.

Writes and conducts annual performance evaluations.

Prepares work schedules in a timely manner, takes appropriate steps to cover staffing shortages, and documents staff absenteeism and lateness issues.

Promotes efficient completion of the workload including shifting work assignments as needed to meet changing workload demands.

Participates in committees concerning workflow and staffing.

Receives and stocks deliveries of pharmaceuticals and other supplies.

Prepares, packages, and labels medications prior to dispensing.

Delivers medications to care areas within the hospital.

Delivers medications to off-site locations.

Manages pharmacy inventory management, including use of electronic inventory management systems.

Monitors product expirations and removing outdated stock from inventory.

Responds to product recalls.

Compounds non-sterile and sterile medication preparations.

Cleans and disinfects procedures.

Performs clerical duties such as answering telephones and maintaining adequate supplies.

Participates as a member of a pharmacy or hospital committee.

Troubleshoots pharmacy equipment malfunctions.

Identifies opportunities for improvement and implement countermeasures related to quality, safety, and workflow.

Proficient in compounding chemotherapy.

Demonstrates a commitment to patients, visitors, and staff by complying with all applicable safety regulations.

Protects sensitive patient data per HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) regulations.

Reasonable flexibility for occasional work outside of normally scheduled shifts based on the needs of the pharmacy department and the hospital.
