We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer/Materials Engineer to join our Failure Analysis & Prevention (FA&P) Group. This is a unique opportunity for an entrepreneurial, highly driven person with a well-rounded skill set to join the FA&P Group. The ideal person for this role will need to not only have a strong grasp of mechanical engineering/materials science and engineering but also be flexible and a strategic thinker able to take on a variety of tasks.  Job ResponsibilitiesSuccessful candidate will be a materials/metallurgical engineer with a strong understanding of mechanical systems and principles of mechanical engineering, or a mechanical engineer with a strong understanding of materials/metallurgical engineering. Perform site inspections to collect information and samples to support investigations into the cause of failures or problems with industrial equipment.Assist with joint laboratory examinations with outside parties in the JS Held Laboratories. Attend and participate in joint laboratory examinations at third party laboratories. Experience analyzing scientific and technical literature and manuals. Experience reviewing and analyzing technical reports and opinions from others. Experience analyzing data to determine the cause of failure or damage to equipment. Experience determining the scope of damage to industrial equipment following an incident.
