Security Graduate Research Internship

Job DescriptionIntel Labs is a collection of world-class research laboratories that helps Intel create some of the most astounding technology advancements and experiences in the world. As part of our Security and Privacy Research (SPR) Lab you'll have the opportunity to work with our formal verification team to prove security-critical hardware, software, and protocols at a large scale.You will help us advance one or more of these key areas:

Help domain experts formalize security properties of hardware, software, and high-level protocols.

Assist in the evaluation of processor microarchitectural optimizations for potential security vulnerabilities and develop mitigations for any identified vulnerabilities.

Implement and evaluate architectural and/or microarchitectural features using a hardware simulator.

Measure the performance of cutting-edge processor features in a simulated execution environment.

Present experiments and findings to internal research and business groups.

This is an internship position and compensation will be given accordingly.QualificationsYou must possess the below requirements to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Experience listed below would be obtained through a combination of your schoolwork and/or classes and/or research and/or relevant previous job and/or internship experiences.Minimum Qualification:The Candidate must be pursuing a Master's degree OR PhD degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Computer Engineering or any related field.6+ months experience in in two or more of the following areas:

Developing formal specifications and models for hardware and software.

A deep understanding of computer architecture and the x86 instruction set.

Experience analyzing hardware vulnerabilities, including microarchitectural vulnerabilities such as those that involve transient or speculative execution.

Ability to write source code, including C and C code, and familiarity with related software design patterns and architecture.

Basic knowledge of cryptography, including symmetric and asymmetric encryption and software techniques that are commonly used to harden cryptographic algorithms against side-channel vulnerabilities.

This role may also be available as our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site. In certain circumstances the work model may change to accommodate business needs.
