Position Overview
The Fence Technician at North Smithfield Fence assists the Foreman in the installation and repair of fences. This role is ideal for someone with a coachable personality, basic carpentry experience, and a desire to learn and grow within the company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Erect and repair fences and fence gates, with tasks including taking down old fences, digging holes, and mixing cement.
- Load truck with necessary equipment and materials for daily assignments, ensuring secure placement.
- Attend job sites with the Foreman.
- Prepare job sites by gathering tools and materials needed for installation.
- Make accurate measurements on job sites to support precise installation.
- Clean job sites thoroughly, remove debris, and ensure all equipment is properly stored on the truck upon completion of work.
- Follow instructions and learn from the Foreman to improve skills and efficiency.
- Always adhere to safety protocols, maintain a clean and safe work environment, and participate in all required safety meetings.
- Communicate effectively with team members to ensure smooth project execution and report any issues to the Foreman.
Special Requirements and Work Environments:
- The nature of the work is extremely physical, which requires frequent holding, pulling or pushing up to 150 lbs.
- Conditions involve working outdoors in extreme weather conditions, long periods of driving and walking; occasional standing, reaching with hands and arms, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, talking and hearing/listening, working in high precarious places.
Schedule:
- Availability weekly Monday to Friday
- Typical availability from 7:30am to 4:30pm, with potential for earlier or later days.
- Typical seasonal employment runs April to December.
- While paid hourly, a full-time need is expected.
Qualifications:
- 1+ years of relevant experience in construction or a related field.
- Proficiency in following detailed instructions and making occasional independent decisions.
- Strong willingness to learn and maintain a coachable personality.
- Ability to make accurate measurements on job sites.
- Basic carpentry skills are a plus.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- A valid driver's license is preferred.
