We are seeking a talented and creative individual who will play a pivotal role in our worship services. We are seeking someone who brings a fresh approach to our music program with diverse music styles while also honoring our
cherished traditional music. This individual will work with the Minister and Worship
Team to enhance our worship services through music, leading our choir and soloists and providing accompaniment and special
music.
Responsibilities:
Provide music for weekly church services and special services including Christmas
Eve and Easter as well as other musical performances to enhance the church and
greater community experience.
Direct and conduct our choir during weekly rehearsal in preparation for worship
services (September-June), fostering a supportive and collaborative environment.
In consultation with the Minister and Worship Team, select songs and music that enhance the worship experience and encourage congregational participation.
Collaborate with the Hand Bell Choir Director to coordinate musical
performances.
Recruit and collaborate with other musicians, soloists, and guest artists to enhance the musical offerings of our church.
Develop programs to continually grow and improve the music program.
Strive to further the church’s reputation for impactful music programs within the
community.
Opportunities to play for weddings and funerals when available (with separate compensation).
Qualifications:
Proficiency in both instrumental and vocal music including strong music reading and aural skills.
Strong skills in piano required (organ a plus but not required).
A minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience leading and directing choirs and choruses in a church or similar setting (experience within UCC a plus but not required).
Ability to work with choir members with differing musical aptitudes.
Strong musical skills with knowledge of diverse musical styles, such as traditional hymns, gospel, contemporary Christian music, and classical repertoire.
Meticulous organizational skills with attention to detail.
Strong interpersonal skills showing the ability to listen and communicate with respect and dignity.
