The IT Administrator will be supporting the MIS Manager at a School District. 6-6:30AM start time (Eight hour day)
Out client is looking for an Assistant Coordinator of Information Services to maintain, upgrade and manage their software, hardware and networks. Resourcefulness is a necessary skill in this role. You should be able to diagnose and resolve problems quickly. You should also have the patience and communication skills to interact with a variety of team members and end users. Your goal will be to ensure that the district's technology infrastructure runs smoothly and efficiently, both on a daily basis and in times of outages and crises.
This position reports to the Manager of Information Systems and is expected to report all activities of all computer operations, including day-to-day LAN/WAN activity, security updates, and systems projects.
Responsibilities:
Install, configure, and maintain software, hardware, and cloud services
Manage network servers and technology services/applications
Install and manage network switches and wifi access points in all buildings - assist in reconfiguration of network topology, network segmentation, and reliability
Maintain the district's user and computer directory environment(s)
Manage the district's remotely-hosted firewall and web filters
Undertake new initiatives and projects as directed
Interface with hardware and software vendors and network managed service providers when necessary
Oversee workflow, assignments and support for computer technicians in conjunction with the Director of Technology
Monitor performance of all network and cloud services
Troubleshoot issues and outages across the network and datacenter
Ensure adequate cybersecurity through backups, firewalls, and cybersecurity systems
Upgrade/patch all systems and network devices with new releases and models
Develop expertise to train staff on new technologies
Build internal technical documentation, manuals and procedures, consult on policies as they relate to the position
Assist Director of Technology and other Technology Coordinators in planning and implementing new technologies and capacity management
Provide technical consulting in all areas of data communications and computing activities
Provide support and research for available technology solutions
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Technology
Required Qualifications:
3-5 years proven experience as a System Administrator, Network Administrator or similar role
Experience with Virtualized Datacenter environment
Experience with databases, networks (LAN, WAN) and patch management
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Knowledge of cybersecurity, business continuity, and data backup/recovery
Familiarity with various operating systems and platforms - Windows Desktop/Server, Linux, macOS
Resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude
Ability to handle confidential data and material with discretion
Ability to work as part of a team and independently with both minimal supervision and the awareness of clients procedures and policies
Desired Qualifications:
Experience working with large-scale managed print environments
Experience working with Virtual Desktop (VDI) environments
Cybersecurity experience and/or certification
Ability to create scripts in Python, Perl, PowerShell, or other languages
Education and Experience:
Minimum: BSc/BA in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline Preferred: Certification/VDI
