The Underground Electrician aims to repair and maintain associated surface fixed equipment and underground infrastructure equipment.1. Daily TasksInstall, maintain, inspect, and repair underground electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, communication, and control systemsTroubleshoot electrical faults on fixed plant and mobile mining equipmentPerform preventative maintenance and inspections to minimize downtime and improve reliabilityRead and interpret electrical schematics, drawings, and manualsInstall and maintain substations, switchgear, transformers, VFDs, and motor control systems2. SafetySafely work on low, medium, and high-voltage systems in accordance with site procedures and legislationConduct lockout/tagout (LOTO), grounding, and testing proceduresIdentify electrical hazards and participate in risk assessments and job hazard analyses (JHAs) Accurately complete work orders, inspection reports, and maintenance recordsRespond to breakdowns and emergency repairs as requiredFollow all MSHA/OSHA regulations, site safety policies, and electrical codesMaintain a strong focus on personal safety, coworker safety, and equipment protection3.
