Join our team, where your expertise can make a true impact!The Underground Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide range of mining equipment and light vehicles to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. This role involves both underground and surface work on mobile and fixed equipment, requiring strong technical expertise, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to work in challenging conditions.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform scheduled preventative maintenance (PMs), inspections, and repairs on underground and surface mining equipment, including:Sandvik LHDs, drills, and haul trucksNormet utility and support equipmentCaterpillar and Komatsu loaders, and auxiliary equipmentLight vehicles and support units.Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems to diagnose faults and implement effective solutions.Conduct field repairs in underground workings as required, minimizing downtime and ensuring equipment is safely returned to service.Follow OEM manuals, technical prints, and site-specific maintenance procedures.Complete accurate work orders, PM checklists, and equipment service records.Maintain safe work practices at all times, including proper lockout/tagout, JHA completion, and compliance with mine site safety policies.Collaborate with operations, supervisors, and other maintenance personnel to prioritize repairs and support production needs.Provide feedback on equipment condition, recurring issues, and recommend improvements to reliability and performance.Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and assist in training apprentices or junior mechanics.
