Job Description

The Nine Publishing Technology team continually delivers and maintains premium, market leading digital products, including: smh.com.au, theage.com.au and afr.com.au across multiple platforms and systems. Software Engineers are responsible for the design, development, and delivery of products and services that delight our customers, and grow the business.

Product Delivery

• Develop high-quality, scalable and performant solutions that align to business and technology goals.
• Maintain a high standard of quality.
• Work with tech leads and other senior engineers to ensure consistency of our practices and processes across Product Solutions.
• Continuously monitor and improve the quality of solutions over time.
• Collaborate with Product Platforms, Online Hosting,
• Architecture, Security, and others to design, develop, and launch new products and services.
• Respond swiftly to resolve production incidents as
• required.
• Be available to support your products and services as needed.

Increase Nine’s technical capabilities

• Continuously learn and improve on your skills.
• Share knowledge and learnings with other engineers.
• Exhibit and reinforce Nine values

Business engagement

• Keep up to date on industry trends, emerging tech, new toolsets, etc., and share this knowledge with your team

Qualifications

Essential

• Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• 1+ years experience in web/software design and development.
• Experience in Java/C.
• Experience in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Passion for delivering great digital products

Desirable

• Strong experience with several general purpose programming languages including but not limited to: Golang, C/C, Python, Ruby, Node.js, AngularJS, etc.
• Experience in designing and architecting high availability solutions.
• Experience in building and integrating high performanceREST APIs.
• Experience in cloud platforms, containers and continuous delivery.
• Knowledge and experience of DevOps.
• Understand the value and importance of well tested code.
