We are currently seeking to fill 22 openings for Plant and Train Operators to join our team at our North Antelope Rochelle Mine (NARM). NARM is the world’s largest surface coal mine and is located in Wright, Wyoming. The mine produces high quality thermal coal that is loaded onto haul trucks and then shipped by rail. It has approximately 465 million tons of coal reserves.

Peabody’s NARM Mine has a safety-first culture and strives to have zero recordable MSHA injuries/incidents.
This role will be focused on Safe, efficient train movement and loading but will include training and assisting in the plant operations as needed.
Duties will include:
Work safely and promote safe behavior in others
Coordination of the Train Loading
Safely inspect the locomotive and train cars.
Verify the paperwork is completed correctly for each train
Must be able to operate the track switches to ensure they are in the correct position.
Understand how to mount and dismount the cars and locomotives.
Be required to work at all Peabody mines in the basin as needed.
Be able to identify defects on the cars to prevent doors coming open during loading
Capable of using a brake stick
Understand the red flag and blue flag isolation
Coordination of train movement
Communicate with Dispatch and plant to efficiently move the trains
Communicate with the rail roads to efficiently bring in and send trains from the sites
Paperwork
Ensure the wheel is correct and all BO cars are documented correctly
Make sure the defects found on locomotives are sent to the railroad
Provide all necessary paperwork to loadout operator for loading
General Housekeeping
Assist with keeping light vehicles cleaned and organized
Keep the locomotives clean
Communication and Coordination with the other train operators in the PRB
Communicate the train schedules and needs with plant General Foreman
Visibly support and champion Peabody’s Mission and Values.
Inspect trains and understand the policy to inspect safely
Get trained to run plant areas to fill in as needed
Acquire the training to operate the loadout, or control room
Complete basic repairs in the plant operations
Troubleshoot lube systems in the plant or attend a lube system class
Train on Samples and proper handling procedures.
Other duties as assigned by the Company.

Must have a minimum of one (1) year of train or mining related experience
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written skills
Demonstrate computer skills
Ability to work in all types of weather conditions and at different times of day.
Ability to work a flexible schedule as required by business need.
Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends and overtime when required.
Ability to work overtime as required by the Company.
Ability to train others.
Physical Requirements - Surface:
Must have the ability to stand for up to 4 hours per shift
Must have the ability to be seated for up to 4 hours to operate equipment or vehicles
Must have the ability to work from elevated positions, walk/climb up and down stairs/steps and climb on and off equipment and ladders
Must have the ability to wear required protective footwear, hearing and eye protection, and other personal protective equipment as required by Company and MSHA
Must have the ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist motions (push, pull, twist, handle), and have rapid reflex movements of the arms and legs and good hand to eye coordination
Must have the ability to lift/raise 10 - 50 lbs. without mechanical assistance frequently during the course of work shift
Must have the ability to work in extreme conditions, including but not limited to changing weather conditions, dust, mud, varying levels of noise from low to high, varying degrees of light and dark, in and around artificial light and in a confined work area
The job requires that you be able to work various shifts (required shifts include days, evenings and nights with rotating schedules, weekends and holidays
Physical Requirements – Office:
Must have the ability to perform office-related tasks which may include prolonged sitting or standing.
Must have the ability to move from place to place within an office environment.
Must be able to use a computer.
Some positions may require occasional repetitive motion or movements of the wrists, hands.
