Technician Trainers provide high quality on the job training to service center technicians to perform assigned repairs with sufficient understanding of key quality attributes while ensuring their technical competency. Training is provided to new employees while also performing cross training of technicians to produce a multi-skilled, multi-functional workforceJob Duties

Plan, schedule and execute training events commensurate with the needs of the production managers and supervisors for repair technicians as well as complete training records and updates to databases or training matrices.

Lead both instructor-led training events as part of a classroom environment (as needed) as well as individual one-on-one technical training.

Assess the skill level and capability of technicians for the repair work to be performed. Assist production supervisors in assessing training needs for individual technicians.

Conducts effectiveness evaluations for technicians as part of our quality focus to ensure employees are following established procedures and processes.

Assists with training for new product/repair introductions to technicians while ensuring technicians stay current with changes in the repair procedures/processes.

Ensure training material is accurate, complete, and consistent with controlled documentation. Assist with review and updates to manuals as needed.

Ensures that safe work practices are employed by observing established procedures. Focuses on quality systems requirements, quality improvement and “5S” programs as directed by the Supervisor or Manager.

Maintain 5S in the shop floor and ensure all trainees are familiar with requirements and needed improvements.

May need to assist with investigating and troubleshooting quality problems and recommend improvements to the production supervisor and support corrective actions.

Technical Trainers maintain adequate product knowledge, competency, and understanding of repairs and repair documentation.

Supports new product/repair introductions and stays current with changes in repair processes.

Ensures accurate service records both electronically and manually are created for all training events.

Works closely with production managers and supervisors as well as other members of the training team to plan, schedule, and execute technician training within agreed upon schedules.

Ensures compliance with Olympus Tokyo’s Technical Service Global Guidelines (TSGG).

Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Job QualificationRequired:

Minimum High school diploma preferred or equivalent working knowledge and responsibilities.

Two years of endoscopy repair experience or equivalent experience training individuals on highly technical products.

Preferred:

Must have strong listening, coaching and feedback skills.

Must be able to perform repairs in multiple stages of at least one operation/department.and be familiar with multi-generational model mix of scope/equipment repairs.

Must have sufficient manual dexterity with small hand tools (such as screwdrivers, electric screwdrivers, pliers, tweezers) and jigs; experience or ability to work with microscopes, test equipment (such as light sources, video processors, mega ohm testers) and hand soldering, where applicable.

Must be able to read and follow manuals, work instructions, job standards and related information; possess basic computer skills (including keyboard and mouse skills).

Must be able communicate process elements to trainees effectively.

Ability to teach and model technical skills and concepts, with strong ability to impart technical knowledge transfer.

Ability to investigate/troubleshoot quality problems. Strong analytical and problem- solving skills.

Be able to adapt to changing needs of the shop floor, be flexible, and have strong time management skills.

Must be detail oriented and focused on quality.

Be able to work independently with minimum supervision.

Must be a strong team player and have strong interpersonal skills.

Strong verbal and written communication skills including strong public speaking and presentation skills.

Knowledge of MS Office and ability to learn Skillmap, LMS and Tooling U systems. Strong computer skills.

Some travel to other Olympus locations may be required to receive or conduct training.
