May also provide support to other TVA organizations and external stakeholders.PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:Lead projects as assigned by Manager, Public & Community Relations in the areas of public relations, media relations, social media, and speaker’s bureau.

Lead projects as assigned by Program Manager, Community Relations in the areas of corporate giving, volunteerism, civic engagement, civic / corporate partnerships, and educational initiatives.

Approve corporate and field contributions up to $10,000; make recommendations to Manager, Public & Community Relations on higher amounts. Maintains accurate recordkeeping in support of budgeting.

Leads Dollars for Doers employee volunteer program. Coordinates volunteer projects and tracks total volunteer hours for annual reporting.

Provides employee volunteer stories, metrics and reports for content coordination and budgeting.

Drafts communications materials for public events / meetings for internal and external distribution.

Identifies opportunities to highlight TVA’s initiatives in the Valley communities.

Manages special projects as assigned by the Manager, Public & Community Relations. Such projects may include the compilation and analysis of data through the development of spreadsheets and other analytical tools.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Education— A Bachelor’s degree in communications, business, political science, or a related field of study; or equivalent education, training & experience.

Experience— Three to 6 years of professional experience requiring effective communications skills. Demonstrated ability to interact with external stakeholders in an effective manner. Demonstrated ability to work with individuals across TVA’s organizations to complete projects and resolve issues in a timely manner.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities— Follow procedures and ethical guidelines. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, particularly the ability to build rapport and to negotiate with external stakeholders. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint and SharePoint) expected. Should have solid research, writing and editing skills. Should have decision-making ability and sound judgment. Must be capable of managing multiple and diverse projects and tasks. Should respond well under pressure. Must be able to recommend and help implement decisions. Should have experience working in and managing databases to include pulling reports. Knowledge of TVA’s goals, objectives, business operations and organizational structure helpful.
