Internal Audit's (IA’s) vision is to be a trusted advisor that contributes to Unum achieving its purpose by providing independent, objective assurance and advisory services in the areas of risk, control, and business process; recruiting and developing future business leaders; and acting as a change agent in leading best practices throughout Unum.This is an early career level position that performs routine audit activities specializing in one functional area of Internal Audit. You will work individually and in teams under general supervision. Leveraging their knowledge and expertise to expand their skills as an Auditor, and by joining IA’s different audit teams: US Business, Corporate, Internal Controls, IT, Data Science, or Advanced Analytics.

Advancing to a role with increased leadership responsibility, such as a Senior Auditor.

Utilizing their skills in areas such as Finance, Law, Operations, Human Resources, or Information/Digital Technology.

Principal Duties and ResponsibilitiesUS Business/Corporate

Participate as part of a team in completing the internal audit lifecycle to assess whether risks are being managed.

Complete testing to evaluate the strength and effectiveness of processes/controls using a risk-based approach.

Leverage problem solving, critical thinking skills, and strong attention to detail to identify risks affecting the company.

Collaborate with team members, business partners, and external consultants to assess the impact of risks and recommend appropriate actions.

Gain exposure to a broad range of business areas and leaders, while building knowledge of various processes, issues, risks, and industry trends to advise leadership and provide forward-looking insights that reduce risk.

Prepare and assist with presenting audit results to business partners, including senior leaders, in a way that can be consumed, agreed to, and will inspire action.

Develop understanding of audit principles, practices, frameworks, and methodology.

Share responsibility for completing quality audits in support of team performance goals and metrics.

Work independently and in teams, prioritizing work across multiple audits and initiatives.

Invest in ongoing learning (e.g., departmental trainings, professional learning opportunities, and certifications such as CIA, CPA, CFE, CISA) to deepen your skills.

Develop familiarity with and utilize audit management software (AuditBoard), data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., SQL, Microsoft Power BI), and productivity software (Microsoft Office) to work effectively.

Job Specifications/Requirements:

Relevant four-year degree required

Hybrid position, in-office requirement 2 days/week

0-2 years of experience

Open to filling position at a higher level (Sr. Auditor) depending on applicant's experience/qualifications

Strong problem solving, critical thinking skills, and demonstrated curiosity

Ability to link a solid understanding of business processes to other business areas, issues, risks and trends that result in actionable outcomes

Effective, inclusive, and succinct oral and written communicator who actively listens, builds strong connections, instills trust, influences, and aligns stakeholders

Act on feedback from managers and solve problems in a collaborative way

Respond quickly and positively to change

Operate with a continuous improvement mindset and continuously seek more efficient ways of working

Interest in learning how to use data to provide comprehensive insights, enable better decision-making, and tell a story

Attention to detail and ability to prioritize, while working on multiple projects, keeping track of due dates

Basic to intermediate Excel skills and proficiency in Word and PowerPoint

Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.$45,600.00-$82,100.00Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not.
