Summary of responsibilities:
-Follows shop drawings and instructions from the Shop Foreman.
-Cuts, sands, assembles, and prepares millwork components for finishing with precision and efficiency.
-Operates and maintains fabrication equipment safely, adhering to safety protocols.
-In coordination with the Shop Foreman, works to maintain a safe, clean, and organized shop environment.
-May assist with finishing and especially installation tasks as needed, gaining a broader understanding of the entire process.
The Production Specialist, also known as a Woodworker Fabricator, at Haskel Sears Design, plays a vital role in transforming raw materials into high-quality custom millwork components. This role requires a blend of technical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to efficient production.
Responsibilities:
Fabrication Tasks:
-Reads, interprets, and follows shop drawings and instructions provided by the Shop Production Manager.
-Operates a variety of woodworking machinery (saws, sanders, routers, etc.) safely and efficiently to cut, shape, and assemble millwork components according to specifications.
-Maintains the cleanliness and functionality of assigned workstations and equipment.
-Assists with material handling and ensures proper inventory management within the shop.
Quality Control:
-Conducts preliminary quality checks on their own work throughout the fabrication process, identifying and correcting any minor errors or inconsistencies.
-Reports any major quality concerns or deviations from specifications to the Shop Production Manager for further evaluation.
-Maintains a focus on achieving consistent quality standards in all produced components.
Teamwork and Learning:
-Works collaboratively with other fabricators to ensure smooth workflow and efficient completion of projects.
-Participates in training programs offered by the Shop Foreman to develop new skills and broaden their knowledge of woodworking techniques.
-May assist with installation tasks as needed, gaining a broader understanding of the entire millwork process.
Qualifications:
-Minimum 1-2 years of experience in woodworking or a related field (prior experience in a cabinet shop or furniture manufacturing is a plus).
-A strong understanding of basic woodworking principles and familiarity with common woodworking tools and machinery.
-Ability to follow instructions precisely and work independently while adhering to safety protocols.
-A keen eye for detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
-Strong work ethic with a focus on efficiency and meeting deadlines.
-Willingness to learn and develop new skills in the custom woodworking industry.
-A valid driver's license is required for all Haskel Sears Design team members.
