Job Description:The Coal Operator is under the direction of the Team Manager responsible for the Utilities Division/Power Dept Coal Operations and Day Services teams. Will operate a locomotive to unload coal, operate field coal equipment for internal coal handling, operate control systems for unloading and internal handling, housekeeping within chutes and general area, unloading water treatment chemicals, and making minor adjustment to water treatment system. Responsibilities:Job Duties:

Operate a locomotive, railcar couplings, and rail switches to support unloading operations.

Operate coal handling equipment (Belts, chute, flop gates, crusher, shaker, etc.) in the field.

Operate a computerized control system for unloading, internal coal movements, and water treatment operation.

Unload water treatment chemicals

Monitor, adjust, and communicate water treatment system status

Routine housekeeping within area

Facilitate start of shift meetings and make routine eLog entries.

Special Note:

This role could be included in future cross training opportunities within Power Dept Day Services Operations as business needs require.

Qualifications:Requirements to perform Essential Elements of the job:

High school graduate or equivalent.

Good communications skills.

Must have and maintain a valid driver’s License

Must be able to climb stairs, ladders, and elevated catwalks.

Must be willing to work overtime as requested.

Must be able to work from heights on a daily basis.

Must be able to drive and safely operate vehicles (trucks, aerial platform, JLG, telehandler).

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Must be able to work in noise exceeding 85dBa.

Must have basic computer skills and willingness to develop.

Must be able to plan, organize, and prioritize multiple tasks.

Must be able to routinely apply knowledge, team and problem-solving techniques in decision making.

Must possess and demonstrate team skills.

Must follow/role model all safety requirements and expectations.

Complete energy isolation of equipment (i.e. lockout-tagout)

Must be able to work in hot, cold, dirty, and/or dusty environments. Both indoors and outdoors.

Monitor incoming coal quality and take samples as needed.

Preferred Skills:

Locomotive and/or railroad switching

Coal Handling operations/maintenance

Water treatment operation
