OverviewDirector Clinical Services, Thompson Oncology Group Full Time, 80 Hours Per Pay Period, Day Shift Travel required to all TOG/TCSC centers as needed. Thompson Oncology Group (TOG) is a leader in medical oncology services and provides patients access to all proven, drug-based treatments and the latest clinical trial medicines. Our team of board-certified, fellowship-trained medical oncologists and certified advanced practice providers deliver on-site care and treatment, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and hormone therapy, at affiliated infusion centers throughout our region. Position Summary: The Director of Clinical Services for Thompson Cancer Survival Center (TCSC) and Thompson Oncology Group (TOG) is accountable for the safe, efficient, and quality operations of TOG clinics and TCSC managed infusion centers. This position provides leadership, financial oversight, and operational direction for 8 medical oncology/hematology clinics and 6 infusion centers across East Tennessee. This position is supported by and directly manages 3 clinic managers, 2 clinic supervisors, 1 lab supervisor, and an administrative assistant. The Director of Clinical Services coordinates significantly with the Directors of Pharmacy, Clinical Research, Business Development, Quality & Safety, Radiation Oncology, Cancer Support Services, and the Chief Financial Officer. The Director of Clinical Services is expected to interact regularly with hospital partners and referring providers offices to ensure optimal coordination of care for our patients. Ensures timely, quality, and safe delivery of care to all patients at all TOG clinics and TCSC managed infusion centers.

Approaches process improvement and policy and procedures from a patient advocate perspective; accountable for patient experience scores.

Works with hospital and provider partners to ensure timely coordination of ancillary services for TOG patients (imaging, interventional radiology, etc).

Continually assess staffing levels to ensure proper staffing to deliver effective, efficient, quality patient care.

Accountable for tracking and improving key performance indicators for TOG clinics and TCSC managed infusion centers which include tumor site specific quality metrics, volumes, and physician and patient satisfaction.

Maintains trusting, engaged relationships with all TOG providers and acts as an advocate for TOG physicians when assisting in budgeting and strategic decision making.

Leads regular physician and staff meetings.

Participates in establishing goals and objectives for oncology services across the continuum.

Develops an infrastructure to support clinical service excellence including the design of systems, development of policies and procedures and the development of staff.

Monitors results and facilitates action planning when opportunity to improve is determined.

Reviews monthly operating reports to ensure integrity and control of expenses, as well as formulating a strong understanding of changes in patient volume.

Assures achievement of service, quality, financial and patient satisfaction goals in areas of responsibility.

Oversees monthly physician and NP clinic and call schedules, ensures proper and thorough accounting of call throughout the year.

Oversees and troubleshoot any issues related to practice answering service and other centralized resources for all TOG clinics.

Oversees the onboarding/orientation of new providers hired into the practice, to include both physicians and midlevel providers.

Works with the medical staff officers in the hospitals to ensure proper credentialing of TOG providers and any locums providers utilized for coverage gaps.

Regularly rounds at TOG clinic and TCSC managed infusion centers to engage, encourage, and learn from staff and providers.

Local travel required.

Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.

Performs other duties as assigned.

QualificationsMinimum Education: Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Management, or Business preferred. Minimum Experience: Five (5) years’ experience in oncology and three (3) years in a leadership role in oncology field. Licensure Requirement: Current RN license in the state of Tennessee. Employee must have a valid Tennessee driver’s license Class D and state mandated minimum insurance coverage. Driving record must meet Covenant Health minimum standards at the date of hire and throughout employment tenure.
