Pastry Cook - Alice in Appalachia
Job Summary:
The Pastry Cook is responsible for creating high-quality desserts and pastries for a restaurant, bakery, or catering company. They are skilled in producing a wide variety of baked goods, from traditional pies and cakes to artisanal pastries and confections. The Pastry Cook also oversees the daily operations of the pastry kitchen, manages inventory, and ensures that all products meet the highest standards of taste, texture, and presentation.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare a variety of baked goods, including cakes, pies, pastries, cookies, and other desserts, using traditional and artisanal methods
Create unique and innovative pastry items that reflect seasonal flavors and trends
Manage inventory, order supplies, and maintain a clean and organized workstation
Oversee the pastry kitchen staff, delegate tasks, and ensure a smooth workflow
Collaborate with the executive chef, line cooks, and other staff to plan and execute pastry menus and specials
Ensure that all products meet the highest standards of taste, texture, and presentation
Adhere to all food safety and sanitation guidelines
Requirements:
Proven experience as a Pastry Cook or similar role in a restaurant, bakery, or catering company
Strong knowledge of pastry techniques and ingredients, including mixing, shaping, baking, and decorating
Ability to create and execute pastry menus and specials
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Familiarity with food safety and sanitation guidelines
