I am looking for my “go to” person who can help me while I am recovering from a cheerleading accident and using a wheelchair. I have an incomplete spinal cord injury and I am a UT student getting my PhD in literature. My husband is my primary caregiver and we both work from home. We just had a baby girl in October of this year. we are looking to hire a couple of more girls to assist me with all personal care: going to the bathroom, taking a shower, light housekeeping, etc. If you are willing to be cross trained, so that you can help me and help out with our newborn during separate shifts, that would be ideal. I am mainly looking for someone who lives in Knoxville, and is not planning on going away for a long period of time. I’m also looking for someone who is flexible, reliable, dependable, and who doesn’t have many other obligations. I’m hoping to find someone who will be very committed to working for me, excited, and passionate about what they do. There are other requests that come up, such as doing overnight shifts on occasion, and coming on trips with my husband and I. I may also need assistance with little projects, organization, errands, and paperwork. We do start at $16 per hour, which is above the starting pay rate for private care assistants in Knoxville. However, if you prove to be a great asset, and catch onto everything quickly, we are not opposed to paying more.
