American Distribution Services, Inc. (ADS) has an exciting new opportunity for a Load Planner/Dispatcher. The ideal candidate will bring previous transportation/trucking experience with the drive to help strengthen and grow this area of the business. Strong knowledge of DOT regulations, preferred. Previous sales experience, would be noted. Our basic job description is included below.
This position is salaried exempt and eligible for benefits, holiday, vacation, and sick pay. Salary $40,000 - $50,000. Monday - Friday, schedule. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., as required.

Job Summary
Performs a variety of highly specialized administrative duties to support the needs of the company.
Responsible for monitoring loads to provide safe and on time service to our customers to optimize profitability.
Position Responsibilities
Utilize independent judgement within processes and best practices to determine location(s) of trucks and available customer loads and drivers.
Understand daily needs/opportunities and proactively work with customers to secure in/outbound freight volumes; oversee scheduling of all pick ups and deliveries.
Coordinate fleet needs with operation leadership and drivers; work closely with designated department teams to manage and maintain truck availability.
Comply with all Department of Transportation (DOT) Regulations & Safety Compliance guidelines.
Maintain complete and accurate freight documentation both physically and electronically. Responsible for the successful dispatch of planned loads assigned.
Make decisions and communicate late pickups and/or deliveries, as well as any other load changes, cancellations or reassignments to appropriate department personnel. Record detailed records on all transactions. Communicate professionally, effectively, and timely with both internal and external customers/contacts. Solicit new freight business.
Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner which facilitates the overall efficiency and success of business operations to meet company demands and expectations.
Required Skills
Must have highly developed communication (verbal & written), interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Must have demonstrated/verifiable customer relations skills”the proven ability to recognize internal and external customers and to exceed their expectations consistently. Ability to be firm and respectful with vendors, when required.
Strong computer skills required. Working experience with Excel, Word, and Outlook. Ability to learn newly implemented computer systems/programs. Basic math skills, required. Proficiency using Internet or PC-based transportation planning tools/applications a plus.
Two to five years prior experience in a logistics related field, preferred.
