Facilities Assistant

Primary Role: Maintain clean buildings and grounds, particularly all common public spaces, and set-up spaces for meetings, worship services and special events at the supervision of the Facilities Manager and based on event set-up forms and the parish life calendar.

Classification: Part-time (20-25 hours/week)

Schedule: Weekly Hours for Sunday to Saturday to be negotiated

Position Available: Immediately

General Responsibilities

Set up tables, chairs, and other furnishings for use based on weekly and occasional events outlined on the parish calendar of events (Facilities Scheduler) and event set-up forms.

Attend to kitchen and fellowship hall cleaning and resetting - sweeping, mopping, disinfecting, dish washing, disposal of garbage, resetting/storing tables and chairs.

Assist Facilities Manager in various project tasks – maintaining and repairing overhead lighting and ceiling tiles, cleaning supply inventory/ordering, maintaining and repairing kitchen equipment, setup of audio-visual and computer equipment, minor repairing of church fixtures and furnishings, maintaining and updating exterior signage, occasional painting and touching up of finishes and surfaces.

General and detailed cleaning and straightening of interior worship space, classrooms, and public spaces and certain aspects of exterior grounds appearance.

Other occasional duties as assigned by the Facilities Manager.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum three (3) years of professional cleaning or environmental services experience including commercial kitchens and public spaces.

Self-starter with sound work ethic; punctual for work duties; maintains attention to detail.

Ability to work with minimal supervision and take initiative based on primary role and requests.

Able to engage in heavy lifting of church and office furniture (maximum 60 lbs.) and assist with facilities projects including occasional work on a ladder.

Good interpersonal communication skills.

Occasional scheduling flexibility for special events.

Computer usage proficiency especially with Microsoft Office helpful but not required.
