Chemical Processing OperatorJob DetailsJob LocationMurfreesboro Division - Murfreesboro, TN Salary Range$22.00 Job Shift2nd Shift DescriptionStartups, run, maintain, and shut down waste treatment equipment in order to treat and dispose of wastewater properly. Check and maintain process tanks in the metal finishing lines to achieve Quality and Efficiency. Run plating lines during lunches and operator absences. Key Responsibilities:
Start up and shut down waste treatment equipment including control panels.
Work closely with Department Personnel to maintain a neat and safe working environment through out the plant.
Effectively runs plating lines during lunches and Operator absences.
Able to prioritize to ensure the Quality of the plating lines and complete all daily tasks effectively with minimal follow-up or supervision.
Maintain and operate Atomic Absorption (AA) instrument proficiently.
Verify and clean PH meters and probes.
Operate and clean filter press in a timely matter.
Perform all daily Responsibilities and record results in the spread sheets and on the daily check sheet.
Fill out waste manifests when necessary to provide for the safe and orderly shipping of waste material.
Discharge of treated chemicals properly.
Titrate tanks as necessary and record results in a timely matter and document results. Perform additional checks as needed or as directed. This would include both Heat Treat and Plating processes.
Add the proper amount of chemicals based on your lab titrations to process tanks in a timely matter and maintain the correct tank levels.
Keep obsolete or sample chemicals to a severe minimum.
Work cooperatively with the Plating Manager and Shift Supervisor.
Report any leaks or damaged equipment to Shift Supervisor and Maintenance.
Make minor system repairs
Assist Plating Manager in ordering supplies and inventory of chemicals.
Must perform all tasks needed to ensure good Quality of water discharge to Murfreesboro Sewer System.
Dump process tanks as needed and scheduled or as directed.
Work in a Safe manner to ensure nothing in or from WWT or Plating can adversely effect the atmosphere or environment.
Assist in process development.
Effectively trouble shoots issues.
Takes initiative to lead departmental projects.
Check and monitor PH in process tanks.
Additional Responsibilities:
Assist Supervisor in the training of new employees assigned to the department.
Must be able to apply concentrated attention to work at hand.
Must be able to read instructions, charts and chemical labels.
Operate tow motors when necessary.
Participate in and encourage teamwork and communication with all Paulo office and plant personnel.
Treat all Paulo equipment, instruments, gages, and customer parts with care.
Perform all duties consistent with safe practices including wearing safety shoes and safety glasses. This would include all PPE requirements.
Know what to do in case of contact with chemicals or in case of chemical spills.
Clean water and chemicals up in a timely and proper manner if they are on the floor or equipment.
Act promptly to insure that equipment malfunctions or safety hazards are corrected.
Ensure good housekeeping in the work area applying to 5’S program.
Operate equipment in a Safe Manner.
Employee subject to assignment on any shift and required to work overtime as necessary to meet customer needs.
Must be able to look up electronic work instructions.
Perform to specified quality standards and accordance with written instructions.
Perform correct titrations to ensure Quality appearance of parts processed on plating lines.
Must be able to perform accurate checks on the Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer.
Assure customer requirements for service are met and that customers are treated fairly and honestly.
Must stay up to date with process changes on the plating lines.
QualificationsKnowledge:
Requires a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
Training to operate all plating lines is required before top out can be reached.
Qualifications:
Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen, including THC.
Experience:
Must be available for all shifts.
More than 1 year of similar or related qualifying experience in Waste Treatment, Laboratory and Metal Finishing Lines. Must have a working Knowledge of electroplating. Must have a working knowledge of computer spreadsheets and e-mail.
License(s)/Certification(s) Required:
Must be able to obtain a forklift certification.
Must be able to pass Respirator Fit Test
