Responsibilities of the Assistant Principal of Culture will include, but are not limited to:School CultureWork closely with Principal to establish a positive, structured, and achievement-oriented school cultureFacilitate teacher training and support around discipline, relationships, expectations, consistency, and managementCoordinate and implement a school-wide discipline system with meaningful incentives and consequencesServe as the point person for discipline/culture issues as well as specific behavioral intervention plansAssist teachers, students, and parents in the creation and implementation of support plans for individual studentsMonitor behavioral pull-out, in-school suspensions, out of-school suspensions, and suspension parent re-entry meetingsMaintain accurate student discipline records; document all conferences, suspensions, and phone calls for behaviorPlan, lead and oversee an effective Tier I, Tier II and Tier III behavioral culture and RTI-B processStakeholder Engagement and ManagementLead recognition assemblies, parent workshops, community events, and other culture-building activitiesSupport teachers in building relationships with students and parents; implement parental involvement planCommunicate clearly and promptly with teachers, families, and students when discipline issues occurEnsure that the physical environment of the school reinforces school culture and facilitates student achievementConduct regular school culture walkthroughs, classroom observations and audits to help staff maintain a high bar of excellenceLead weekly behavior analysis meetings with each grade levelProvide ongoing coaching and development to teachersPlan and lead ongoing student culture professional development throughout the yearManage and coach Behavior Support Specialist(s) and School Counselor(s)Conduct and monitor the successful implementation of 504 Plans, Functional Behavioral Assessments, and Behavior Intervention PlansFacilitate Support Team Meetings to ensure intervention plans are created for students who need additional behavioral supportTrack and report student behavior to charter authorizers through Infinite Campus, Illuminate, DeansList, and PowerSchool for KIPP and other regional level reports Growth MindsetModel school core values and character strengths at all timesWilling to offer support and receive constructive feedback from colleagues in order to create a professional working atmosphere that is conducive to change and improvementParticipate in regional cohort session, school-wide and individual professional development, including pre-service training over the summer and weekly during the academic yearOtherSupervise school entry, breakfast, lunch, transitions, and dismissal to ensure they are orderly and positiveLead efforts to ensure all students have excellent attendance and arrive at school on timeLead efforts to ensure all students have excellent homework completion and that homework is checked efficientlyEnsure effective field lessons, school events, and extracurricular activities
