DescriptionAmazon operates a world-class network of delivery stations across the globe. The LastMile organization is responsible for the acquisition, design, construction, and management of all facilities in the Amazon Delivery Station Network. We are looking for a Design Engineer to join our North America LastMile Design Team who will support the expansion of Amazon Logistics (AMZL) Delivery Station Network in North America (NA). In this role, the Design Engineer will drive delivery station process, building design, and standardization across our Last Mile delivery network. As a member of the NA LastMile Design team, the individual will be responsible for designing and optimizing the delivery and sortation network, enabling operations processes to meet safety, customer experience, quality, and cost goals that span delivery stations, outside traffic flow and on-road operations.Key job responsibilitiesResponsible for building design, development, review and release for approval, deployment of new delivery stations and existing station capacity improvements and enhancementsProvide process expertise on engineering design including material flow, labor placement, conveyors, equipment, operations modules, packaging profiles, physical building and site layout componentsAchieve the daily and weekly plan set in front of the Design engineersCollaborate with Design Managers, CAD drafters, Real Estate Transaction managers, World Wide Engineering (WWE), Pre-Construction and its Architects, material handling equipment suppliers, Launch and Start Up teams, Finance, Volume Planning, and Capacity Planning teams among othersContribute to network culture of standardization using best practice sharing with European (EU) and Worldwide (WW) counterparts, and incorporate into most up to date design practicesLead continuous process and design benchmark initiatives and conduct deep dive benchmark studiesSupport the Design quality control process that strives for accurate and zero-defect designsResponsible for implementation of new Design standards in collaboration with World Wide Design, Safety, Process Engineering, Material Handling Equipment, and LaunchResponsible for new expansion, retrofit, process improvement initiatives and opportunities at the project level to support associate driver safety, quality, productivity, and the capacity increase for the delivery stationsImplement solutions for recurring process issues and improvement projects within Design Engineering processesCollaborates with partner teams on their inputs, feedback, and best practicesImplement new template designs, process improvements, safety processes, etc. into standard designsImplement mechanisms to increase scale, speed, and quality of designs within the teamFacilitate cross-functional project specific reviews to collaborate on design solutionsTravel up to 50% to support complex designs with quick, simple, and standard solutionsThis role can be based in Bellevue, Nashville, New York, or AustinBasic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree

5+ years of experience in Design, Construction, Architecture, or Topography

5+ years of experience in a similar process and building layout design and development role, ideally in fast-paced industrial, logistics, distribution, fulfillment or production/manufacturing environment

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in designing, implementing, and launching of fulfillment, delivery, sortation centers

Experience to collaborate with design engineering, construction, real estate managers, execution project managers

Experience to work as Design Engineer or Senior Design Engineer for physical infrastructure designs

Knowledge of delivering successful Fulfillment, Distribution, Warehouse, or Delivery station designs

Experience in design engineering and drafting tools such as AutoCAD, Bluebeam, MS Visio, Solidworks, etc.

Process Engineering skills and Project Management skills

Experience to build relationships with business partners and key stakeholders, and the experience to work under pressure in a cross functional organization

Experience in Lean Management, Six Sigma and other OE tools

Knowledge of Excel, including use of look-ups and pivot tables

Experience to work in a fast-paced and rapidly-changing environment

Interpersonal skills

Written and verbal communication skills

Knowledge to organize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously

The base pay for this position ranges from $68,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $126,400/year in our highest geographic market.
